Background information
The bridge is located directly next to the historic drainage and navigation lock of Bodegraven, the core of which dates back to 1367. Waterschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden carried out major maintenance on the lock and bridge in 2024–2025; the bridge was reopened in April 2025.
