The Monument for the Victory and the Soldiers of Verdun in Verdun (Grand Est) is a stone memorial on a platform with a monumental staircase of 73 steps. The staircase is flanked by cannons and the tower is topped with a soldier statue.
Background information
Designed by Léon Chesnay and inaugurated on 23 June 1929; the staircase leads to a crypt that preserves registers of holders of the Médaille de Verdun.
